How To Choose The Right Chiropractor

Good reasons to consider a career as a chiropractor

The motivation to become a chiropractor varies from person to person. If you’re wondering what your reason “why” is, let us give you a few things to consider.

Chiropractors change lives

With the chiropractic adjustment, chiropractors allow the bodies of their patients to operate at their optimum potential. In some cases, this can produce miracles. In fact, the very first chiropractic adjustment in 1895 resulted in the patient regaining his hearing!

“Chiropractic is unique because it’s based on the understanding that there is a universal intelligence that guides and gives order to everything in the universe,” said Life West Director of Alumni Relations Palmer Peet, DC. “There’s an expression of that universal intelligence inside all of us, called innate intelligence. The focus of chiropractic is to restore the expression of innate intelligence, which expresses itself through the nervous system.”

Chiropractors are in demand

According to a study conducted by consulting firm Grand View Research, the chiropractic market size is expected to approach $18 billion by the year 2025. Additionally, 35 million people receive chiropractic care each year, and there are many areas around the world where chiropractic care could help millions more.

Chiropractors meet new people on a daily basis

If you’re a social person who enjoys the company of others, being a chiropractor provides plenty of opportunities to do that. Once you establish where you’d like to practice, immerse yourself in local organizations and groups and spread the word about what you do. Being a part of your community will lead a steady stream of customers to your doors.

Making the decision to see a chiropractor is a great step towards better movement and health. Taking this step starts you on the path to restoring balance, alignment and eliminating chronic pain. But achieving your health goals does not solely fall on the shoulders of your chiropractor.

After your adjustment you may feel amazing, as range of motion is improved, circulation begins to be restored to affected areas, and your muscles begin to relax. You might also experience some tenderness, as your body begins to move into the correct positions. Either is normal, but it is what you do next that can really play into how effective your adjustment is. Read on for tips on what to do after your chiropractic adjustment.

Drink Plenty of Water

When you receive a chiropractic adjustment, your muscles and bones are moved and stimulated. This results in the body releasing toxins—the same thing happens after a massage. To flush these toxins from the body, you want to drink a large glass of water immediately following your adjustment. Your water is made up largely of water, and it uses this water to cushion joints, carry nourishment to cells, and flush the metabolic byproducts that occur after an adjustment. Keep drinking more water than normal for several days after your adjustment, to keep your body healthy and properly functioning. Drinking more water is important after an adjustment, but it is also a great habit to get into as part of your daily routine. Dehydration can lead to headaches, fatigue, muscle weakness, and more, so drink more water to stay healthy!

Keep Moving

After your adjustment, you don’t want your body to immediately revert to the same position it was in. Avoid sitting for long periods of time after seeing the chiropractor, if possible, and enjoy the mobility that your adjustment has created by going for a long walk, or take a bike ride. If you are headed back to work and have the option of a standing desk—utilize it! Anything you can do to keep your body moving will help the adjustment to hold and prevent your body from immediately reverting back into a bad position. Great health involves mobility and movement, and keeping active after an adjustment is part of the healing process. Other low-impact exercises to consider include yoga, swimming, pilates, or tai chi. All of these can help shorten your recovery time and boost the good effects of your chiropractic adjustment.

Move Carefully

Yes, you want to stay active after an adjustment, but you also don’t want to overdo it. When the body is moved into proper alignment, the tendency can be for it to revert back to where it was. Keep this alignment intact by not doing any quick or jerky movements following your adjustment, and not doing any heavy lifting or strenuous activities. Because your body needs to relearn how to be in the correct position, be mindful of your movements for the next day or so. Evaluate how you are sitting in your car—is your back straight? Check yourself when you are at the office, and try to find a position at your desk that supports correct posture. Watch how you lift heavier objects, and make sure to use your legs to assist your back. Once your body is put into the correct position, you will be able to feel the difference, and hopefully evaluate your daily positions to ensure that you create new, healthy postures and movements.

If you are interested in Facebook Ads specifically, and what you can do, I recommend checking out the link below. We give you a full guide, for free, on how to run Facebook Ads as a chiropractor. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, we are happy to help.

If you were to talk a look at the Facebook Ads in almost any city that is out there you will most likely see a chiropractic office running an ad. The go-to ad for most offices has been what is called a discount deal ad.

This will be something along the lines of “$19 New Patient Special” or any low-dollar amount. This strategy has worked really well on getting new patients to contact the office and come in for the special. But, the main problem with it is the quality of the patient. Most of the time the patient will come in for one visit because they have a coupon, and then will never come back into the office.

Facebook will most likely be heavily marketed to chiropractors in 2019. Which, doesn’t surprise me. The people who sell Facebook Ads are making top dollar. If you are a chiropractor who is looking to run Facebook Ads but are not sure what to do, I recommend checking out this site: Facebook Marketing for Chiropractors

Many chiropractors would rather stay away from doing paid Facebook Ads. But, what else can a chiropractor do on Facebook? Well, there isn’t really anything other than Ads on Facebook that will drive new patients into your office. But, there are things that an office can do for patient retention.

Essential Tips for Making the Best Of Your Chiropractic Experience

According to The Good Body, at least 80% of all Americans will suffer from back pain at some point in their lives. The prevalence of lower back pain symptoms is also increasing. In 1997, approximately 29.5% of seniors experienced lower back pain. In 2013, however, the prevalence amongst seniors increased to 33.7%. There was also a 0.9% increase in lower back pain symptoms amongst adults aged 18 to 65 in this time period. It is also reported that these symptoms are more prevalent amongst women. Furthermore, back pain causes disability in approximately 20% of women and 31% of men. While there are many different causes of joint pain in general, with lower back pain being one of the most significant problems when it comes to the prevalence of joint pain, we would like to focus on the potential treatment options – with a primary concern about chiropractic care – in this post

It is important to note that a variety of treatment methods are available to treat lower back pain. For example, a doctor may prescribe a series of NSAIDs, also known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, to help reduce inflammation and alleviate pain. This, however, can result in unwanted side-effects. There is also exercise and yoga that can be used to ease pain in the joints and in the back. In addition to these, many companies have developed products that contain particular natural substances and vitamins for joint pain that has been researched in scientific studies.

The American Chiropractic Association reports that manual-thrust manipulation, one of the primary techniques used in chiropractic care, is able to reduce lower back pain symptoms by approximately 30% in 94% of patients within four weeks. When it comes to prescribed medication, only 56% of patients are able to experience similar results in the same timeframe. They also report that switching to a chiropractic doctor for the treatment of lower back pain can save America as much as $83.5 million in medical care costs per year. Unfortunately, many people are still relatively skeptical when it comes to obtaining chiropractic care for their lower back pain. For this reason, we would like to give you some vital tips on how you can make the most out of your experience and improve the results you are able to obtain from your chiropractic sessions.

Choose The Right Chiropractic Doctor

The most vital part of going for chiropractic care is to choose the right doctor. Since this type of treatment is quite delicate, it is important that you choose a doctor that is experienced in chiropractic care to ensure you get access to the best treatment without having to be at risk of potential errors. recommends asking for a recommendation from a spine specialist, physical therapist or physician. These medical experts would most likely have some trustworthy and reliable chiropractic doctors on their contact lists as they may have referred other patients in the past. If you rely on recommendations from colleagues and friends, then do not go with the first option you hear – rather get the opinion of different people and see if there is one particular chiropractic doctor that the majority of individuals you ask recommend. Note that you also have the right to interview a chiropractor before you undergo treatment.

Don’t Forget To Hydrate

Chiropractic care may be a great way to reduce lower back pain, but there are many things that you can do after your session at the chiropractor to further improve your symptoms. One very important factor that you should attend to is hydration. There are small discs that can be found within the spine, which is responsible for absorbing shock. These discs also play a vital role in protecting your back against damage. Water is contained within the discs, but the water is constantly lost and then refilled. The Joint Chiropractic explains that, when you are dehydrated, there won’t be an adequate amount of water to refill these discs; thus causing damage to the spine. This results in inflammation and pain.

What Our Patients Say

What others say about chiropractic care can help you make the right health care choice. Testimonials as written and given from our patients. Out testimonial book is in our reception room for patients to read and share

I have chronic back problems and believe as long as I keep going and also walking and eating right I will keep my back from becoming worse or so bad that I can’t walk or do as much as I use to! Best of all its a great feeling going there because both doctor’s and all the staff are all so caring and friendly and seem to always be cheerful. Thanks to all of you! Oh and yes the massage girls included! ️

I’ve been to different chiropractors over the years and I feel that every one in this office has been the most friendly and helpful. They listen and have helped me immensely in my recovery.

When I was first introduced to Chiropractic, my initial reaction was that it was for people who had back problems. I have since learned that Chiropractic is about overall wellness. Since I have been a Chiropractic patient, I have noticed that my overall health has improved. Also, I have learned that “a headache is not caused by a lack of Tylenol in the blood steam.”

When I was losing my voice and visited a Medical Doctor, the advice was to take a regimen of medications. When I explained that I would have problems with the antibiotics, the recommendation was for me to eat yogurt and cottage cheese. Being lactose intolerant led to another discussion of a stomach problem, the resulting advice was that I could get a stronger medication for it to replace the Chiropractic adjustments and Tums I had been taking (and which my Chiropractor was concerned about). Had this doctor or clinic talked to me for a minute or more about my entire medical history perhaps my visit would have gone much smoother. The end result was that I left the doctors office without a prescription. An hour wasted, and deciding to take my Chiropractors advice; rest, tea with honey and lemon, and vitamins.

How to disinfect your home after every stay to keep the coronavirus away

The coronavirus has threatened to upend the travel industry, with all types of companies – from airline companies to cruise-ship companies to hospitality companies forced to explore different measures to protect their customers and employees.

Since the outbreak, the immediate effect it has had on the travel industry is massive. Cancelled events, cancelled flights, and a rapid reduction of bookings has caused hosts around the world to rethink and re-plan their yearly strategies.

Apart from the simple measures that you’ll need to take like frequent hand-washing, you also need to be aware of how to deep-clean your house before and after any guests to protect yourself and others.

First things first, how does COVID-19 Spread?

Coronavirus is spread from person-to-person who are in close contact from each other (around 6 ft) and is spread when the person coughs or sneezes, spraying away droplets that can be inhaled into the lungs. Another way the virus is spread is through surfaces, where the virus can live for up to 8 days. If you touch an infected surface and then touch your face, the virus finds a way into your body through your eyes, nose or mouth.

Your Two-Step Cleaning Method.

Even if you’ve hired a company to come to your house and clean, you still need to make you’re cleaning & disinfecting yourself. The two-step cleansing method involves, cleaning first, then disinfecting.

Housekeeping Standards

housekeeping partners are also encouraged to pay extra attention to self-protection through best-practices like washing hands and wearing rubber gloves.

We continue to welcome business and leisure travelers in all of our markets and maintain commitment to quality care. That said, we certainly understand that COVID-19 is disrupting some of our guest’s travel plans.

Hot tubs checked for cleanliness

If you are considering using your own home as a vacation rental, here are some recommendations:

Consider making one of the closets or cabinets one that locks it is useful for extra supplies and linens it is also useful if you plan on using the home for your own vacations.

Having two lock boxes outside the home (one hidden) is useful in case your renter locks themselves out. No need to send someone with an extra key.

Having a check out list of things the renter is responsible for such as turning off all lights, taking out the garbage, collecting linens and putting in one location. Most renters are agreeable to doing these types of things.

It is up to you what you would like to provide for your renters but a well-stocked home with games videos and outdoor playing equipment such as bicycles and beach toys will help to bring your renters back next season.

Most Common National Electric Code Violations

Many problems stem from new additions to the National Electrical Code (NEC), while some common mistakes violate codes that have been on the books for years.

Don’t Choose the Wrong Circuit Breaker

To help you understand which electrical protection goes where, consider what each type of breaker was designed to do and make sure to follow the national electric code

Standard circuit breaker

Circuit breakers protect home electrical wiring and equipment like furnaces, air conditioners, dryers and stoves. Standard circuit breakers are better at protecting wiring and equipment than preventing fires and protecting people. That’s why they have largely been replaced by GFCIs and AFCIs. There are only a few places left where standard circuit breakers can be used, typically for large home electrical appliances.

Ground fault circuit interrupter

Ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) protect people in areas where they are likely to be using small appliances and where water is present. GFCI breakers and outlets have been around for a while, and most people know they’re required in bathrooms, kitchens and outdoors, but our experts are still finding home electrical violations, especially in these areas: garages, crawl spaces, storage/work areas in unfinished basements, wet bars (within 6 ft. of a sink), and sump pumps. And don’t forget that GFCIs need to be readily accessible in order to be reset. This means they shouldn’t be installed on the ceiling or buried under a hydro massage tub without an access panel.

Arc fault circuit interrupter

Arc fault circuit interrupters (AFCIs) prevent fires in all living areas where appliance cords are prone to be pinched or crimped, or chewed by pets. They used to be required only on bedroom circuits, but the National Electrical Code now requires AFCI protection in all living areas. They’re equipped with sophisticated electronics that can detect an arcing condition (like in a frayed lamp cord), which may not be detected by a standard circuit breaker until after a fire has started. AFCI protection is not just required for new construction; it’s now also required where branch-circuit wiring is modified, replaced or extended into existing homes.

Your Ultimate Guide to Electrical Renovations

You’ve decided to renovate! Wooooo hoooooo!  As excited as renovating may be, it comes with a lot of tasks and checklists to ensure it is executed with quality and a lasting outcome. We’ve set up a snazzy checklist to get you through the electricals.  We’ll take you through each room and what you need to know so you don’t get yourself in a pickle.

Hiring a licensed contractor may be more expensive short-term over a cash contractor, however, with a licensed electrician you get the peace of mind essentials; systematic control, government safety, and regulatory compliance, insurance/warranty if something were to happen.

All work to be completed under the Electrical Safety Regulation Act 2013

Qualified and licensed electricians

Electricians and electrical work to be covered under insurance

Skilled, knowledgeable and strategically planned schematics and technical work on and off the location, in addition to professional

Financial protection by avoiding potential unanticipated errors or defaults, especially when it comes to insurances

Top safety priorities and highly safety-educated electricians for your home or business

Write a loving letter to whomever you’re renovating with for future reference and put a bottle of wine and candle away to light and enjoy a dinner with midway through! This could save marriages!

Work together on a budget and ensure you stick to it (spreadsheets are great for this).

Decide what you will do yourselves and where you need to outsource. Make a list.

Discuss together what design options suit all parties (contemporary, modern, rustic, shabby sheek, etc.).

Each room has a purpose, think about the who, what, when, where and whys of the renovations. Ensure you’re renovating for what you want.

Do you need to plan with an architect, designer or builder? Make a list of prospectives and questions that you want to ask them in a meeting.

How eco-friendly are you wanting to go? It is definitely worth investing time and energy into this (did you see the pun there?).  Are you putting in solar? There are many new features that can improve energy, water and waste usage.

Home automation is a great feature to add when renovating, it’s also eco-friendlier and helps save on those bills! Not to mention it’s something to wow your guests!

Is your home safe to renovate? Does it have mould? Asbestos? Does it need new structures? Are the rooms of legal sizes? Etc.  Ensure you do your homework on QLD Government legislative requirements for your home or office.

If you’re doing any renovations yourself, it might be worth completing a white card certificate, so you know, you don’t lose a finger for not knowing the basics.

The Benefits Of Choosing Local Moving

Best Packing and Moving Tips: How to Make Relocating Less Stressful

Do you want to know how to pack and move fast? Are you interested in ways you can make moving easier and less stressful? If that’s the case, some of these moving tips might alter the way you approach moving for the better.

Take some time out to familiarize yourself with these clever moving tricks, hacks and organization ideas that can set the tone for your move.

  1. Create a moving checklist and budget.

First, draft a moving checklist that includes a timeline. Everyone’s timeline will look different depending on how much notice is given before the move. Some people will have two months and others might have two weeks. Next, include a realistic moving budget.

By visually organizing your move, you can keep a handle on events as they unfold. Not sure where to start? Print out our comprehensive moving checklist and put it inside a designated moving binder.

  1. Weigh the pros and cons of hiring professional movers.

If you don’t have access to willing family and friends or you are moving to another state, it might make sense to hire professional movers. The amount of work they take off your plate during this stressful time might be well worth the added cost.

Hiring professional movers can be a great experience—if you hire the right company. Don’t be afraid to ask questions before signing a contract. This due diligence will give you peace of mind as moving day approaches.

  1. Send out notices before you’re stressed.

Make a list of who you need to notify when you move. There are a lot of loose ends to tie up before you move to a new area. You should determine when and how you will accomplish these tasks in your moving checklist. When the time comes, either visit offices locally or be prepared to make some phone calls. By making this list in advance and setting the task for yourself in your calendar, you’re less likely to forget anyone.

Moving Packing Tip And Tricks – The Ultimate List

Purchase all Your Moving Supplies Before You Start Packing

Unless you’re hiring a full-service moving company who will do everything for you, you’ll need:

  • Various size boxes (don’t forget small boxes – you can’t put everything in big ones!)
  • Sturdy packing tape
  • Markers
  • Rubber bands
  • Packing materials such as newspaper, bubble wrap, tissue, or packing peanuts
  • Optional: plastic wrap (great for wrapping large dresser drawers shut for transport)

Stock up on Cardboard Boxes with Handles

These are much easier to lift. If you don’t already have pack boxes without handles, it’s easy to make them yourself. See below for a DIY packing tip:

Just draw two rectangles, about four inches long by two inches high, on opposite sides of each box.

Cut out the rectangles with a box cutter, and voila – instant handles.

Place your handles wherever feels most comfortable to you but take care not to cut too close to the top of the box, as that will risk tearing the cardboard when you lift the box.

Get Free Boxes for Packing

  • Check out networks like Freecycle or Craigslist for free boxes.
  • Social media can be helpful too – if your neighborhood has a Facebook group, start by posting there.
  • You can also ask whether extra boxes are available at businesses like grocery stores, offices, liquor stores – their boxes are clean and perfectly sized for packing glassware – or even at your local recycling center.
  • Let your friends, neighbors, and others in your community know you’re about to start packing – someone in your circle might be waiting for a chance to dispose of a stash of supplies from their own recent move.
  • Check apartment buildings or dorms during the prime moving season, usually summer.
  • If convenience is more of a priority than price, you can buy boxes at office supply stores, home stores, retail shipping locations, or online.

Packing Tip: Don’t use boxes that are torn, damp, or otherwise weakened. Check out the seams, where boxes tend to wear out first. Don’t worry about existing labels or writing on the boxes; these can easily be covered with your own labels when you are labeling each box.

Use Moving Boxes

While many people opt to hunt through local grocery and liquor stores for free boxes, that decision has cost a few of them a lot more than they bargained for. Weak cardboard and glue, high moisture levels and damaged corners of scavenged boxes can all lead to box failure. Using actual moving boxes is a much safer and more economical choice in the long run.

Proper moving boxes are sturdy and designed to hold up to the heavy loads and stresses involved in moving your belongings. They are also uniform in size, which helps greatly when loading the van. Having standard small, medium, large and extra-large box sizes allows for easy grouping and a minimum of wasted space.

Pack One Room at a Time

Start in one room of your house and pack everything from that room. In general, it’s best to resist the temptation to mix the contents of your boxes with items from different parts of your home. Even if the items are similar in use, size or weight, unpacking is much easier when everything in any given box belongs in the same destination room. The exception to this rule is putting your towels and old tee shirts to use as padding; see Tip #6 below!

Pack Heavier Items in Smaller Boxes

It may be tempting to put several large or heavy items into your larger boxes. However, as anyone who has ever lifted a large box of books can tell you, smaller is better with heavy items. Things like dishes, books and tools are better packed in small and medium-sized boxes. They are easier to handle and less likely to become damaged.

Put the Heavy Items on the Bottom

Speaking of heavier items, be sure to place them in the bottom of your boxes. This increases the box’s stability by lowering the center of gravity. This tip also protects other items in the box from being crushed.

Create a separate packing checklist for your valuables

Only you can properly understand the real value of your items. Make a list of all your valuables, where they’re located, and if they require any specialized packing. Valuables can be anything from jewelry, paintings, and ornaments, to financial documents, passports, professional files, titles, car keys, and prescriptions.

You should pack valuables like jewelry and special ornaments in their original packaging. However, you can still find the appropriate packaging from specialty stores.

Carry important documents with you to avoid the headache of having to look for them later when you’re unpacking.

Make a special pack for all your medications, which you will always carry with you. Plan the necessary preparations if they require controlled temperatures or any other special conditions.

Label boxes to identify unpacking priority

When you number boxes while making your packing inventory, identify the priority for unpacking them. You could write an “A” on very important boxes that contain items you’ll need in the first couple of days (ones containing your sheets, for example), “B” on boxes you’ll need within the first week (like extra socks) and “C” for ones that don’t need to be unpacked on any schedule. You could also use red, yellow or green stickers to identify priority.

Dog Bites Lawyer And Dog Attacks

Dog Bite Lawyer

Dog bites can be a serious threat to your health and safety. Many bites require medical attention, which can result in hefty medical bills. If someone else’s dog recently bit you or your child, call an experienced dog bite lawyer today. You could be entitled to compensation for your injuries

State law holds pet owners responsible for many bite-related injuries. Dog bite victims can sue the pet’s owner for compensation for medical bills, lost wages related to their injuries, and other damages

Dog Owner Liability

Dog owners are generally responsible for the damages a bite victim suffers. State law no longer requires that victims prove the dog had a known history of aggression. Legally, this is known as “strict liability.” However, an exception exists if the bite occurred on residential or non-commercial private property.

Even if a dog had not previously shown a dangerous or vicious nature, the pet owner can be held responsible for compensating the victim for their injuries.

There are some exceptions to the strict liability rule, including:

If the attacking dog was a police or military dog on duty

The victim was trespassing on private property

The dog bit while securely confined

The victim provoked the dog to bite

The dog bit while protecting its owner from attack

Dog Bite Lawyers

The experienced dog bite lawyers at Swenson & Shelley can help you recover maximum compensation for your injuries. In the United States, so many people consider dogs as a man’s best friend. When a dog bites you, it’s likely that you won’t share that sentiment. Odds are you didn’t walk away with a little impact bruise from the dog bite. When a vicious animal attacks you, there is a lot of damage they can do and if you are a victim of this, you deserve compensation for what happened to you

When you ask for compensation, you may be hesitant to bring a dog bite claim. There is a common misconception about these cases. It’s likely that you were at someone’s house that you know when you were attacked by their dog. What you should know is that you are not really going to be bringing your dog bite claim against your friend. You are bringing the claim against their insurance company.

In the “Exterminators” section of our website, we provide several articles that describe the most common household pests and offers tips for eliminating them. Except for termites and bedbugs, you should be able to cure most pest problems with a modest amount of effort and without hiring a pest control service.

Complaint Histories

Also check companies’ complaint histories with local consumer agencies, such as a local government consumer agency or the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

How They Approach the Problem

Different outfits have different strategies for treating, or preventing, pest problems—for example, baits versus sprays or long-term contracts versus one-time treatments. We describe these approaches and choices in our articles advising on how to deal with specific pest problems. Some companies are flexible, but others offer one approach only. Discuss options with each service you consider, and choose one that makes sense for you.

In pest control, as in most fields, it’s good to withhold payment until work is complete. In the case of termite jobs, however, some firms require partial payment prior to completion.

What’s the best way to set up a consultation or an appointment with an exterminator during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Ask exterminators in your area if they would be willing to offer a consultation over a phone call or video chat. You can then ask them any questions you have about the upcoming appointment. Make sure to ask what precautions they are taking to keep everyone safe during the COVID-19 pandemic and whether they are observing social distancing guidelines. You may ask them if it’s possible to conduct the appointment virtually or without person-to-person contact.

How can I find out if an exterminator is considered an essential COVID-19 service provider?

Essential service providers during the COVID-19 crisis are defined by individual states, cities and localities. For the most accurate information, visit your official state or city government website to see what is considered an essential service.

Are there ways to be safe if I hire an exterminator when social distancing?

If you need pest extermination services inside your home, talk to the exterminator first to be sure that you both feel comfortable completing the project. Also, follow the CDC’s guidelines on social distancing. You can also arrange with the exterminator to take extra steps to stay safe, such as waving instead of shaking hands, staying at least 6 feet apart, using digital payments and sanitizing any common spaces before and after the project is complete.

Can I use digital payments to pay for pest control services?

You may be able to use digital payments such as Venmo, Apple Pay, PayPal, Venmo, Square Cash or Zelle to pay for extermination services. Many businesses accept methods of payment besides cash and credit cards. Check with pest control services in your area to see if they have changed their payment methods as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Does an exterminator need to enter my home?

If you have an outdoor pest infestation, it’s unlikely an exterminator will need to enter your home. But if your pest infestation is inside your home, the exterminator will likely need to enter your home. Check with the exterminator beforehand to explain the extent of the problem, the layout of your house and see if they can complete the job outdoors. You can also ask the exterminator to video chat or set up a phone call to exchange as much information as possible before you begin the project.

Find the Best Pest Control Companies

Insect and rodent pests carry diseases, cause property damages, irritate allergies and cause other harm to people. If you suspect a vermin nuisance, use our guide to select the best pest control company for you. Many companies are experts in dealing with pest infestations and can help you get pests out of your home quickly and safely. They can then help property owners take preventative measures to ensure their homes and businesses are not infested again

Properly identify the pest you need to get rid of

Pests often invade homes, but not all pests are created equal. Pest control companies have services to deal with a range of unwanted critters. Choose a company that specializes in the type of pest you’re most concerned about.

Rodents: Some pest control companies work on ridding spaces of rodents like rats and mice. These companies may not have specialized solutions for dealing with insects (like sprays, chemicals, etc.), but they do have specialized knowledge for ridding of animals (e.g. with traps, steel wool, building maintenance, etc.).

Insects: Insect infestations are also a common problem that certain specialized pest control companies deal with. Companies that deal with insects often have specific sprays or poisons that can be sprayed to rid houses of bugs. They also have knowledge of using traps to attract and kill bugs, as well as different natural preventative methods families can take to ensure bugs do not re-infest a home.

Less common pests: Some pest control companies deal specifically with more specialized problems, such as bedbugs, raccoons or termites. While some large, generalized pest control companies are well-versed in more common insects like ants, roaches and mosquitoes, more specialized companies can deal with problems that are rarer (like bed bugs) or regionalized (like scorpions).

Consider the company’s commitment to eco-friendliness

Getting rid of pests often requires the use of harsh chemicals, but companies can use products of varying toxicities in order to end infestations. In fact, some companies focused on eco-consciousness don’t use chemicals but implement natural ways to get rid of pests instead.

Traditional pest control companies: A traditional pest control company often uses very harsh chemicals, like pyrethroids and pyrethrins, to get rid of bugs. These have a bigger impact on the environment than some eco-friendly methods.

Green pest control companies: Green pest control companies use methods or materials to get rid of pests that are friendlier to the environment, such as chemicals with lower toxicity or natural products, like boric acid.

Multi-faceted pest control companies: Many pest control companies use a combination of strong toxins when infestations are particularly large and hard to treat, or when they have not responded to less harsh treatments, and eco-friendly, more gentle treatments when infestations are not particularly difficult or when pest problems are mild.

How to Choose a Pediatric Dentist

A Lifetime of Oral Health Starts Early

Pediatric dentists are specialists in treating the unique needs of children. A pediatric dentist has completed two to three years of specialty training beyond dental school. He or she limits the practice to treating the oral health needs of infants and children through adolescence, including those with special health needs.

Choosing a pediatric practice to trust with the health and beauty of your child’s smile is an important decision. Making a positive first impression at the dentist can influence children’s view of dentistry for the rest of their lives, so it’s important to make sure your child is comfortable with the doctor and staff.

Consider education and experience.

Once you have a list of a few pediatric dentists, do a little research. Find out about their educational background, where they went to school, and what kinds of continuing education or specialty training they’ve had. Before you set up an appointment, make sure the candidate is a licensed member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. This ensures that he or she remains up to date on the newest and most effective clinical procedures.

Make sure your child is comfortable.

It’s very important for your child to feel comfortable with the pediatric dentist. Does the doctor have a pleasant chairside manner? Do you feel like he or she really pays attention to your concerns? Is the staff friendly and helpful? Does the office have a fun atmosphere that your child enjoys? Take all this into consideration when choosing a pediatric dental office

Ask questions.

During your initial consultation, don’t be afraid to ask questions. After all, that’s why you’re there! It’s important for you to understand every aspect of your child’s dental health and the available treatment options. The more informed you are about your child’s dental health, the better decisions you will be able to make.

Tips on How to Choose the Right Dentist

If you want to have healthy teeth, then one of the things that you are supposed to do is to ensure that you have a good dentist. Most people have the wrong impression that you are only supposed to see your dentist when you have a dental problem.

The best practice is to visit your dentist regularly. This is important because it helps the dentist to discover some of the dental problems and reverse them before the situation escalates. However, you will always need to make sure that you choose the right dentist for you to get quality services.

The first thing is to make sure that your dentist is trained and qualified to offer you the services that you seek. Ask the dentist to show you the papers that prove that they have permission to provide the services that they offer. If possible, get to know the dental school that your dentist attended. If you find the dentist went to an excellent medical school, the chances are that they are capable of offering you the quality services that you need

When looking for a good dentist, it is crucial that you go for those dentists who have a good reputation. It just tells you that those people who have used their services were satisfied and that is the reason why the dentist is famous. Checking the online reviews is one way of finding more about the reputation of a dentist. Apart from online surveys, you can also talk to friends and family members who might be having more information about the dentist.

Before choosing a dentist, always make an effort and visit their facility to see how well equipped they are. A tremendous dental facility will have all types of equipment for different types of treatment. Lack of or insufficient equipment in a dental facility is actually a sign that they might not be able to offer all types of services that you might need.

How To Choose A D.J

Choosing a DJ for your function is one of the most important decisions you can make to insure the success of the event. Everything else can be perfect, but if the music isn’t good, the party will fizzle. Selecting the right DJ can be confusing. There are over 80,000 DJs in America, all promising they’ll do a great job for you. So how do you pick the right one for you? This article will provide some guidance to help you make the decision easier.

The best and easiest way to find a DJ you’ll like is to hire one you’ve already seen. If you’ve been to a wedding or a party where the DJ was great, find out who he or she was. If you didn’t get their card, ask the host or the manager of the function room where the party was held. If you haven’t seen a good DJ recently, ask your friends. Your friends probably have the same taste in music as you. Maybe they’ve been to a function you missed. Let them know ahead of time you’ll be looking, and ask them to keep their eyes and ears open. If the first two suggestions don’t work, your job gets tougher. You might have to go to the Yellow Pages. Look under Disc Jockeys, Music and Entertainment. You may find DJs listed any of these categories. Circle the ads in which the DJ mentions the type of party you are planning. For example, if you’re planning a wedding, a DJ whose ad says “We specialize in weddings” would be a good one to call. You’ll probably find several DJs whose ads look good.

How do you tell which one is best? Probably the worst way to choose a DJ is on price alone. Some DJs are more expensive than others. Prices can range from $100 to $2,000 for a 4 hour event. That’s quite a difference, and it would be very tempting to choose the cheapest alternative. If that’s all you can afford, than you have no choice. But, consider the law of supply and demand. There is a reason some DJs can charge more money than others. They are usually worth it. More expensive DJs tend to be the more experienced DJs. They can charge more because they are in demand and have a lot of jobs, and they have a good reputation. Generally, the DJs on the low end of the price scale are new to the business, and trying to get established. They could do a great job, and might be worth a shot if your party is on the informal side. But there is definitely more risk with a less experienced person. When it comes to a special event like a wedding, or other types of parties, you want a professional entertainer, not crossed fingers. As you speak with the DJs, pay attention to their professionalism over the phone. It tends to spill over into their DJ style.

The most important thing to ask about is their experience with your type of event. If you are planning an event like a wedding, school dance, or company party, it would be normal to expect a professional DJ to have performed for at least 20 of these events. A number in the hundreds is actually common for a DJ who is well established. DJs with less experience might also do a good job. And they’ll usually cost less. If you talk to one who sounds interesting, ask him or her for references. Get 5 or 6 names and phone numbers of people who have recently hired them. Call these references and ask about the DJ’s performance. Any DJ can easily give you 2 or 3 names. Getting more names is a better test of the quality of their performance. If you see a DJ at a live performance, (ie; nightclub, private party, etc.) observe how they interact with the crowd. Are people having fun? Are people dancing? Is the music too loud? Is the DJ dressed appropriately? Does the DJ keep the event moving? These are all good clues to the DJ’s skills and personality. Always ask the DJ about their policy on requests

Many DJs boast about the number of songs they have. While variety is great, the fact is that they will only be able to play about 60 to 70 songs in a four hour show. Having the right 60 songs is a lot more important than having 20,000 songs your crowd doesn’t want to hear. After you tell the DJ what type of party you are having and who the audience will be, ask them what type of music they’d suggest. You should feel comfortable with most of his or her selections

DJ Mixing

One of the first decisions a beginner DJ must make is deciding what type of DJ he or she will be. This doesn’t mean your performance style, but that is something we’ll get to at a later date. What type of DJ you will be means what kind of music you will play.

Once you’ve decided what type of DJ you’ll be, you can begin to find the right DJ equipment and software to fit your needs, and more importantly, where you can start looking for DJ gigs. But choosing the right DJ music isn’t just about choosing a genre and buying up all the music you find; it is also about defining who you are as a DJ

Many new DJs don’t exactly know how many types of music are out there and by default most choose to play what they love. This isn’t a bad method for choosing your DJ music, but it may not be the most effective if you’re looking for a paid career as a successful DJ

What you love, whether it’s house, hip hop, electronica or dance, is a great place to start because you have plenty of knowledge on what you love. BUT if you’re a music purist and like very obscure artists that aren’t likely to draw a crowd, you may want to consider something a bit more…mainstream

Not sure what the kids are listening to today? No problem, all you have to do first is take a look at the music topping the various charts. Believe it or not, there is more than just pop and Top 40 charts and this can really help you find your musical niche.

The average cost of hiring a professional to prepare a basic tax return was about $188 in 2018-2019, according to a survey performed by the National Society of Accountants, and you can rest assured that inflation has tweaked that upward at least a little bit since then. This fee was for the simplest of returns, and it could go up or down depending on your area of the country. You can save yourself some money if you identify your tax-time priorities in advance and find the best tax software to address them for you.

Some programs are pricier than others, but they’re still generally cheaper than hiring a professional, and you’ll spare yourself having to cram all those tax documents into your briefcase or a box and carting everything off to your accountant’s office.

These software options have you covered. Some of them are actually free—yes, free, at least for filers with simple returns.

5 Easy Ways to Establish Clientele as a New Preparer

“Where am I going to get clients?”

It’s a question lots of tax professionals ask as they ponder starting their own tax business.

Going it on your own may seem scary but being your own boss and setting your own schedule… Not so scary!

Building your practice is going to take a bit of time but if you know where to start it shouldn’t be that hard. Here are five easy ways to start building your client list as a new preparer.

  1. Start with friends and family.

What better way to spread the word about your new business than announcing your new venture to family and friends? This circle of people will likely be your biggest group of supporters and cheerleaders so start there and ask for referrals.

  1. Join networking groups.

There are so many networking groups out there so join a few that are affordable and start networking. Be sure to pick a group that doesn’t already have a tax professional in it so that you have the opportunity to gain clients from within the membership and then gain referrals from there. BNI’s are generally great networking groups to join. There is also PRO, your local chamber or small local groups you may want to join.

  1. Develop a referral program.

Developing a refer-a-friend program is a great way to grow your client base. A referral program will incentivize the clients you have to refer their friends, thus easily growing your client list through your current client’s network.

  1. Reach out to your professional network.

Are you on LinkedIn? You should be! Announce the big news to your network and ask for referrals there. LinkedIn is a powerful online networking tool that will help you gain more exposure and stay in touch with the professionals in your network. You could also reach out to your professional network via email to announce that you have opened your own practice and are taking clients. You might even consider holding an open house before tax season (if you have a brick and mortar location).

  1. Offer up free tax planning or other seminars.

A great way to get new clients in the door is to hold a free seminar on year-end tax planning or the new Affordable Care Act rules. It’s a great way to get people in your door who will likely become clients. You can promote your seminar on local news sites, through friends and family, on your social media sites and also through your networking groups.

If you don’t have a place to host a seminar, consider offering to speak at another group’s event.

How Much Money Does It Cost To Start A Tax Preparation Business?

Becoming a Tax Preparer

It doesn’t cost much at all to become a tax preparer. Our federal income tax course is free. There are no formal federal educational requirements for tax preparers. Only four (4) states require licensing. The IRS charges $50 for a Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN). The IRS does not charge for an Electronic Filing Identification Number (EFIN). After completing the aforementioned, you are a tax preparer.

Starting a Home-Based Tax Preparation Business

Starting a home-based tax preparation business can also be done with minimal start-up costs. With little overhead, you can charge less than the competition and still make a great profit. It’s easy to run a tax preparation business out of your home and charge less than the well known tax preparation franchises.

The primary things that you will need to start a home-based tax preparation business, some of which you probably already have, are:

  • A computer, printer and a copier
  • A high-speed internet connection
  • A phone
  • Professional tax preparation software
  • Basic office supplies
  • Business cards

If you are like most people, you already have a computer, multi-function printer, an internet connection, and a phone. If so, your initial out-of-pocket expenses should run $300 – $500. $500 – $1,000 total should be sufficient to cover all of your start-up expenses the first year. Some of the expenses, such as part of the cost on the tax preparation software, can be deferred and paid for with the money that you make “in season” preparing the tax returns.

What About Advertising Expenses?

You should start by talking about your new tax preparation business to people that you already know in your community, such as family, friends, and co-workers, before advertising or marketing to the general public. Talk to your family, friends, and co-workers and pass out your business cards. This is a low-stress way to get started while you fine-tune your tax preparation business. And don’t forget, when you deliver a client’s tax return and they are happy with your service ALWAYS ASK FOR REFERRALS. Word-of-mouth is the number one way that independent home-based tax preparers get their business.

If you are good at attracting and retaining clients, you can make excellent money by starting your own tax preparation business. But don’t forget, it can take a long time to become an overnight success!

What Types Of Services And Loading Services Do Freight Forwarding Companies Offer

The Benefits of Outsourcing Transportation Management

Big decisions never come easy. Especially when the decision involves moving thousands of dollars’ worth of freight across the country. With the growth of e-commerce and increases in consumer spending, transportation will only become more complex and more in demand. Your business will be faced with the decision to run your own transportation operation or outsource to a transportation management provider. While both choices have pros and cons, there are 3 definite advantages to outsourcing your transportation that may help make your decision easy:

  1. Efficiency – Working with a single transportation vendor means that processes are streamlined and communication funnels through one point of contact. Top transportation management providers will have well-developed processes in place to ensure the efficient and accurate shipping of your goods. Processes such as carrier onboarding, shipment coordination, and dispatching are all designed to provide quality service while simplifying day-to-day operations. These efficiencies lead to cost savings which are passed along to your business in the form of optimized rates.
  2. Expertise – Your office doesn’t need to have specific knowledge of the transportation industry, because you’d be working with experts who have this knowledge to keep everything moving behind the scenes. While you’re focusing on growing and operating your business, your transportation provider is using their expertise to service your customers. Your transportation provider will follow your retailer’s delivery scheduling procedures while utilizing preferred carriers for the delivery to minimize retailer chargebacks. While outsourcing your transportation to an outside provider requires giving up some control, Transportation Management Systems (TMS) allow for visibility into shipments and report generation for performance tracking, keeping you in the loop for every shipment.
  3. Economies of Scale – With a transportation management provider that services multiple geographical regions, you can feel confident that your shipment will reach its destination, no matter the origin. The transportation provider may also have multiple customers that are likely shipping to similar destinations, which opens up the opportunity for less than truckload (LTL) consolidation programs and volume discounts. You won’t have to worry about fleet management or carrier screening, your transportation provider takes on the risks and the workload.

Spotting Inefficiencies That Are Costing You Money

When you outsource your transportation management to an experienced vendor, you’ll get immediate access to expertise that it might take you years to develop in house.

Transportation is what freight forwarders do all day, every day. As a result, they know how to spot opportunities for efficiency and, as a result, cost savings.

For example, a freight forwarder might recommend changes like the following:

Transitioning shipments to more efficient methods of transportation, like moving from 40′ containers to 53′ trailers to reduce the overall number of deliveries and associated costs.

Packing ocean freight shipments more efficiently so freight can move directly to retail outlets, rather than getting re-sorted and re-repacked in a secondary distribution center.

Changing from over-the-road shipments to rail to save on transportation costs.

In other words, when you choose an experienced transportation management partner, they’ll be able to find you the most cost-efficient, yet effective way, to get your freight from point A to point B.

While you could train an employee to develop that expertise—or hire an in-house logistics specialist—working a freight forwarder offers another opportunity for cost savings: Access to their existing relationships. Freight forwarders work with an established roster of partners with whom they do significant volumes of business. As a result, a freight forwarder may be better positioned to negotiate the better for your company.

Outsourcing your transportation management also has one more significant benefit.

Top 3 Reasons Why You Should Outsource Your Logistics Requirements

Whether you are a small business or a major conglomerate, you have your own scope of business activities to do. Businesses that you are an expert in, businesses that you are specialised in and activities that are core to your business.

For most people involved in manufacturing and trading, shipping and freight may not be a core activity, but it is something that has to be done as part of the business.

Shipping, freight and logistics activities can be quite complex and complicated if not handled properly as it involves several stages of monitoring, documentation, dealing with government and regulatory bodies.

There are specialists to handle these particular activities and here are 3 good reasons why you should outsource your logistics requirements to these specialists rather than handle it yourself.

  • Peace of mind and efficient logistics management
  • Save on time, money and effort
  • Network growth and opportunities

Improve Risk Management

There are numerous risks to a supply chain.  Regulations, potential for theft (whether physical product or information), damages and huge liabilities if not operating with a legal carrier are just a few of the risk issues.  Many of the risks are not even known by many shippers because logistics is not their core competency.

A third-party logistics company has the tools at its fingertips to minimize the risks and in some cases remove the liability altogether by just being the middle person in the transaction.  Logistics service providers have the tools to better vet the providers in the carrier approval process and keep track of changes as they occur with the carrier’s insurance certificates, agreements, safety ratings and other legal aspects.

Four benefits of outsourcing transportation

Cost saving

In the Gartner Survey, the main reason given to outsource was to reduce costs.  3PLs with an established customer base have economies of scale and significant buying power.  This means that their pricing is very attractive; they utilise their assets very effectively and as a result, can offer volume discounts.    3PL companies have the resources, expertise and hopefully, more efficient operations; supply chain is their core business.  Most commentators agree that cost reduction is a major driver of the decision to outsource but there are risks.

Access to technology and communications

I.T.  in the logistics field is becoming more sophisticated and more accessible.  Established 3PLs are investing heavily in software solutions, both on- and off the vehicle for the benefit of their customers.  Track-and-trace, on-board cameras, smartphones and anti-theft systems are now commonplace.

Information management

Trustworthy and consistent information on supplier activity is essential for decision making and continuous improvement.  Unfortunately, most companies do not have reliable transactional data nor a complete historical spend analysis. An outsource relationship with a 3PL can produce accurate reports and business intelligence in real-time at a level of detail that you may struggle to achieve.

Resource flexibility

In-sourcing, i.e. managing your own transport in-house comes with challenges in staffing and vehicle utilisation.  Dedicated assets, both people and equipment, are expensive and are often under-utilised. Volumes fluctuate, some requirements are unplanned, there are seasonal fluctuations in demand and you may not be able to operate 24/7.   Outsourcing can smooth out some of these headaches, especially if your agile service provider can accommodate both your regularly scheduled transportation needs as well as your on-demand needs.
